R.I.P. Emery Lindsey 3/22/23 - 11/5/09

Che's grandpa's funeral was today. Mr. Emery Lindsey was 86 and one of my favorite people in the whole world. He joined the army in 1940 at the age of 17. After the war he stayed in the army and also fought in Korea. He ended up retiring with 22 years service as a Master Sgt. After that he quietly worked at different jobs, raised his kids, and served the Lord as a faithful church member. Never once in all these years has anyone ever heard a word of complaint for the horrors he saw in two wars. The family needs help with funeral expenses and the family is hosting a benefit at 10279 N. Ave. H in La Porte this Sat. the 14th starting at noon. BBQ plates at $7, drinks at $1. BYOB if u wish. There will also be raffle and auction items. I know with deer season and other things many won't be able to make it, but if your able to come out and honor a true American Hero we would be very grateful.

Pretty rowdy crowd early on but once we all had our crack at the champ & knocked him out things got serious. We had a great time on Sunday! Congrats to all the former champions who won a seat to my main event and had their shot at the bracelet. Special thanks to my buddy Chris from hotpokershirts for coming out and showing his support. He donated some extra prizes to raffle and had some very nice tees! Also, congrats to Chris for winning the WPT poker neon raffle!! With huge starting stacks the 11 champs battled it out for over 8 hours! Joey aka 'NObama Joe' was in hot pursuit of the title at the halfway point and never really let up. Congrats to 'NObama Joe' for winning the TOC2! Remember, Obama will want his cut ;) Sorry for the inconvenience but we are canceling both games this week to allow us a chance to get the poker room ready to determine the line up for the TOC3!

Tournament of Champions 2moro 4pm!

With confirmation from 2 players not attending. Raul will sit in for Week 5 as he finished 'ITM'. Also, the commish has just got off the phone with defending champion, Oscar "All-Day" Meza who will be taking Debbie's Week 1 spot. (GL to Debbie's grandson who is playing in an advanced little league world series of baseball against a team from Cuba in Florida!) By doing this we have changed the TOC ruling in that the defending/current champion automatically earns their seat to the next event for a chance to defend his/her bracelet. The next TOC will only have room for 10 players just in case I'm not lucky enough to secure a seat and have to deal. However, if I win a week & have a seat we will go with 11 total players. Plenty of food & drinks will be provided. We will have Gabby's BBQ catered. Thanks to Juan for coming thru! BBQ at 4p. Game starts at 6p. I will have several nice items to raffle off. BIGT secures the win!

It was another packed house Saturday night as we had 15 players on 2 tables for a $1200 pot! Thanks to ev1 for showing their support and coming out to play. With a new structure in place and way more chips in play we found ourselves playing blind levels we had never reached before! With my fair share of deep runs where the blinds supersede the starting stacks, I was fortunate enough to lock up the win on the eve and become the current champion that will hold for a few weeks since we are canceling this week's action to prepare for Sunday's Tournament of Champions special bracelet event. After playing 6-handed which seemed like forever once we got down to 5, we agreed on a 5th payout. Just in time for my b-day and the TOC this was definitely a special win :) Here are the official tournament results. Congrats to all who cashed!

Hope ev1 had a safe & Happy 4th! We have finally set a date for BIGT's 2nd Semi-Annual Tournament of Champions bracelet main event! We will hold the main event Sunday August 2, 2009. We will have a tournament director in place and all rules will be enforced. (English only, No verbal check downs, etc.) Tournament will start at 6pm w/BBQ starting at 4pm. We will have several raffles & door prizes! We welcome all railbirds!

Thanks to ev1 who came out on Saturday night. We had 15 players with a $1200 pot paying out 4 spots. So much for starting a 2nd streak of 'ITM' finishes. Got a lil' unlucky early on when my KK ran into AA. Then had my AQ run into AJ. Then another pair of Aces going down to a set of 7's on the river, pffft. Tough beats like these = 'bubble boy'. You know it sux to 'bubble' in any tourney but it really sux when it's your own. Just not being able to walk it off and having to sit there and continue dealing can be tough. Robert's rules or BIGT's rules?!? The fact remains we still follow rule #15 at my place and that is to 'Have Fun.' Congrats to Joe for taking down my weekly donkament 2 weeks in a row! This was the first time this has been done and is a very cool accomplishment. Congrats again Joe!

This was definitely "Not-Ur-Avg Joe" who came to play on Saturday nite! After securing his seat a few weeks ago with the other player having a seat already. Joe aka "Chipzilla" let ev1 know he's no joke as he was just running over the table and good in the end when it counted most. Play came down to Rose, Joe, and myself. I tried to propose a deal but "Chipzilla" wasn't gonna come off much & I don't blame him with that chip lead. With the blinds going up the battle began between Rose & I to see who could hang on the longest. She got me. Congrats to Joe and ev1 who came to play!

Sorry to all my fans ;) and loyal readers out there for dragging my ass the past few weeks. No excuses just have had all kinds of stuff going on. The truth.. I have been sad since I didn't cash for a 10th straight time! HA! j/k ;) Let's see.. where to begin. We actually had a week 10 game even tho I never sounded the horn. Switched phones that week and my contacts were all screwed up. Joey "NObama Joe" took down week 10. This past week was exciting with $1,350 in the pot! By far are largest pot in awhile. It came down to Jamie & Dennis to duke it out for the seat as Joey had already claimed his. Dennis finally "went all in with a pile of shit and came out smelling like a rose". Mr. Everett hit his 2-outer on the turn and made trip jacks to outlast "NObama Joe". We now have our 11 set for the TOC! The TOC will run later this summer. Stay tuned for details. MVP?!?

Thanks to ev1 for coming out on Saturday nite! We had 12 players for a $1200 pot! When the dust finally settled - the final four left standing to fight it out for the 9th seat to the TOC were Jimmy, Dennis, Joe, and myself. Oscar aka "bubble boy" that nite bought Jimmy's chips for a 2nd chance to defend his bracelet. That was short lived as he was the first one out in 4th position. Dennis landed in the 3rd spot for the 2nd straight week. Leaving myself and "Not-ur-Avg" Joe to duke it out for 1st. When we went heads-up the chip counts stood at my 14K to Joe's 11.5K. With my seat already locked up to the main event this summer Joe and I decided to split 55/45. Congrats to Joe for securing his seat right behind his wife Rose who won last week! This was the 9th tournament we have played since re-opening after Hurricane Ike shut us down and your boy BIGT has finished 'ITM' (In The Money) every single time! I knew I shoulda started that poker league I was talking about last year to send someone to Vegas HA! Prolly never have takers now :) Can you say MVP?!?

You know that song by OAR? That's what I'm jamming as I blog last week's action. We had 12 players with a total prize pool of $1150! Anytime we have 12 or more players we play on 2 tables with 4 scheduled payouts. With a brand new structure in place we reached 500/1K blinds for the first time in this tourneys history! Mind you this is a tourney with only a 400 starting chip stack with blinds that start out at 1/2! The idea behind this is to finish in time for a cash game afterwards for those who decide to hang around for the action. We just started this a few weeks ago and have had great success. When heads-up play began BIGT had 7500 to Rose's 15K. It was an epic battle as play continued for almost an hour but in the end Rose emerged as this week's champion! Congratulations to Rose on a well played game and for securing her spot in the TOC! With only 3 spots remaining.. who will claim their chance at this summer's 2nd bracelet event? R-U-N?!?

Hey WSOP everyone? HA! Welcome to BIGT's new site for all the inside scoop from the pokerroom! Thanks to all who came out on Saturday nite. We had 11 players with a total prize pool of $1050! The new structure held the blinds a lil longer but when the "bubble" finally burst, BIGT found himself 'ITM' for the 7th straight time! There was a wintry mix in the air as BIGT had his new A/C pumping out that bone-chilling blast as promised but when it was all said and done the only one whose cards never went cold were that of Daniel "Quick-Call-McDraw" Everett. Daniel went heads up with Bob Tremble before claiming the 7th seat to the TOC2. Not to mention the $525 for 1st place! Congrats to Daniel.
